We are 4 games into the BAFFL season and the standings just got even tighter, with both undefeated teams going down and both winless teams getting on the board. Two games (and a lot of points) now separate the first place team from the last, and once again the league is in perfect symmetry with five 3-1 teams, four 2-2 teams, and five 1-3 teams.
Before we get into the rankings, we’d like to acknowledge one of our most valued long time readers by announcing the winner of the weekly prize – the Jim Everett Tossing Tables and Everything Else prize, for the team that starts the QB with the most passing attempts. Congratulations to the Hibiscus Battle Hogz who started Jalen Hurts – who tossed 37 passes in an overtime win over the Commanders. Not exactly a record shattering performance, but we here at baffl.ca think Jim Everett would be proud anyway and toss a table to GM Corey in salute.

#1 – Launay McFavres 3-1 (-)
The champs got absolutely clowned this past week, putting up a league low 44.7 points this week in a loss to the cheeks. This is one of those games where you toss out the film, chalk it up to a bad day and get back to work on Tuesday. The champs should be fine, but this week has left a couple of lingering questions that GM Snides might need to address. Is Trevor Lawrence good enough to win a title? Will Mostert start to come back to earth with the emergence of Achane and the return of Jeff Wilson Jr? Luckily for the McFavres, help is on the way and star keeper Saquon Barkley should be back soon, and he will undoubtedly be the focal point of the Giants and McFavres offenses.
#2 – Aquarium Avenue Magikarps 3-1 (+3)
The Karps are back in the upper echelon of BAFFL after taking down the previously unbeaten ZenSharks. The team was carried by Christian McCaffrey and DJ Moore who put up nearly 70 of the teams 96 points combined. The rest of the team put up disappointing performance, and GM Dufresne was seen stapling missing person posters to lightposts in a desparate attempt to find TE Darren Waller, who has been invisible most of the season. Luckily for GM Dufresne help is on the way, with Cooper Kupp likely back next week, and Austin Ekeler the week after. The return of these guys should bolster this roster and avoid the Karps having to trot out Jerrick McKinnon on a weekly basis.
#3 – Creek Crossing ZenSharks 3-1 (+1)
The Sharks got their first loss of the season, and somehow moved up in both the BAFFL standings and these rankings, but it was a weird week in BAFFL. The sharks had OK weeks from all their wide receivers, which isn’t enough to get the W with their struggles at RB. The Sharks could be in trouble this week with both DK Metcalf and Keenan Allen on a bye, but the team should be well positioned coming out of the bye if they can avoid the injury bug. GM Shark is hoping that the pitiful Broncos D is enough to get beleaguered RB Breece Hall to get going this week in a plus matchup.
#4 – Delamere Dawg Pound 2-2 (-1)
The Dawg pound lost a tough one this week despite putting up 98 points, running into a Stefon Diggs 3 TD performance from the BIG GUYs. The team should be fine though, Amari Cooper had to deal with DTR throwing passes, and George Kittle wasn’t required to do much with Christian McCaffrey going nuts on the cardinals. On the positive side, Josh Jacobs finally broke out, putting up 24 points in the losing effort.
#5 – EB Angry Birdz 3-1 (+1)
The Birdz got their third win in a row, moving the toaster a little further away from the bath as the team strings some wins together. It’s still in the bathroom – but moving closer and closer to the door. Somehow this man decided to start Rachaad White over star RB Achane, but it didn’t matter this week as the Denver D is so bad that even Justin Fields can put up points against them. Aiyuk also had a big game, and a bunch of average performances by the rest of the squad was enough to carry his team to victory. RB Jonathan Taylor was activated from the PUP, but there is a lot up in the air still. Will he return to the team, will he be traded? If he does return, will he be 2022 Jonathan Taylor, or the 2021 MVP?
#6 – Thresher Tornados 2-2 (-4)
This team always finds a way to leave you wanting more, and put up a lacklustre performance in a loss to the birbs. Olave is in real trouble if Derek Carr continues to play through this shoulder injury, and GM McIntyre is praying that the saints unleash Jamies instead of allowing Carr to check down to Kamara for four quarters. D’Andre Swift had another great game, and Justin Jefferson still managed to have a great game in a miserable performance by Kirk Cousins, so this team should be fine, but it also wouldn’t surprise us if they finish 9th and leave fans frustrated once again.
#7 – Crevasse Cheeks 3-1 (-)
The Cheeks put up a solid performance after a tough week, pounding the McFavres 93-44. Puka Nacua once again dominated, and found the end zone for his first TD in epic fashion, with a walk off against the colts. However, it’s not all sunshine and lollipops for the Cheeks, as Joe Burrow continues to be complete garbage, putting up 4 fantasy points for the Cheeks. It’s going to be tough to overcome that kind of performance on a weekly basis, and while Nacua will still be startable he may not have as high of a ceiling with Kupp’s return.
#8 – Hibiscus Battle Hogz 2-2 (+3)
The Hogz put up a book cake against the Mystics this week, finally cracking the 69 point barrier in style with a 162 point performance. Almost everyone got in on the action, with the Hurts/Brown stack putting up nearly 60, Mongtomery with a monster game and Nico Collins running wild on the Shittsburgh Defense. We’ll see if this week is an anomaly or if this team is on the way up. Lost in the shuffle is another quiet day from WR Calvin Ridley whose day was saved by a TD. Since his week 1 performance, he hasn’t gone over 3 receptions and was only targeted twice in the win vs the Falcons.
#9 – Minoterie BIG GUYs 2-2 (-1)
The BIG GUYs had the second highest point total of the week, putting up 120 points in a convincing win against the dawgpound. The team was led by QB Anthony Richardson who had a hilarious stat line completing 11 of 25 passes for 200 yards and two touchdowns, adding a rushing touchdown for a monster day on 11 completions. WR Stefon Diggs also had a monster 3TD week, only overshadowed by McCaffrey’s 4. On the downside, TE Dalton Kincaid still hasn’t eclipsed 43 yards and hasn’t found the end zone, and Tutu Atwell may be a tough weekly start as the WR3 for the rams.
#10 – Pepsiland Pontooners 1-3 (-1)
It was a tough loss this week for the Tooners, who had a 17 point lead going into Monday night with only the Seattle D left to play. The rest, as they say is history, but the Tooners can’t be blaming their luck with another lacklustre performance by the rest of the squad. King Henry had a nice bounce back game, and Pacheco was great, but the rest of the squad put up disappointing performances en route to a 97-84 loss. This team could be in trouble with WR Tee Higgins going down to injury, and no answers on the bench or the wavier wire.
#11 – Moustache Mystics 1-3 (-1)
Another disappointing effort from the Mystics who managed only 80 points despite 27 from the Dallas D, who continues to be the team’s top player. Aaron Jones had a miserable outing, and Javonte Williams exited the game early with injury, leading to the emergence of Jaleel McLaughlin who could push for more carries moving forward. This team just isn’t very good, and is much more likely to be in the chomps bowl than they are in the playoffs.
#12 – Aconitum Wolves 1-3 (+2)
Big move in the rankings for the Wolves this week, but don’t be fooled – this team is still trash. The team got into the win column mostly on the back of QB Josh Allen who had a monster day with 36.5 points. This paired with decent performances by CeeDee Lamb, Christian Watson and Terry McLaurin was enough to get the job done. However, this team still has no RBs, and Kyle Pitts should probably be dropped for Jonnu Smith. Chomps Bowl is still a mortal lock, but the Wolves are no longer the betting favourites.
#13 – Lords of the Valley 1-3 (-)
The Lords got into the win column, thanks only to a 30 burger from the Seattle Defence. Kyren Williams had a nice day, saving an otherwise disastrous draft and keeper situation from the Lords. Dalvin Cook is awful, Josh Kelley was awful and will be worse with Ekeler coming back. Godwin had a nice day, but is clearly second fiddle to Evans and benefitted from the WR1 leaving the game. This team is also a mortal lock to make the fish bowl, but Mahomes alone might be enough to get them through.
#14 – Voldemorts 1-3 (-2)
Things were looking up for the Voldemorts after notching their first win, a matchup against the Wolves, and RB Alvin Kamara returning from suspension. Then the team put up 60 points, led by a 1.2 pt performance by DTR. If I told you Alvin Kamara had 51 rush yards and 13 receptions, you would rightly assume he had a monster day, but unfortunately for GM Deebers his 13 receptions were for 33 (!) yards, smashing the previous NFL record low of 76 yards on 13 receptions. More hilarious is the fact that one of those was for 10 yards, meaning 12 of his receptions netted him 23 yards. The check down ability provides a decent floor for Kamara, but with Derek Carr unable to throw the ball more than 5 yards downfield, his ceiling is pretty low as teams zone in on the only threat. The fish bowl continues to be a 3 horse race, and at the moment the voldemorts have a nose up on the competition for our old pal chomps.
