GM Begin’s Mock Draft

Glad to be back predicting how many RBs will be taken in the first round (a lot) and throwing you off on who I’ll be considering at 3rd overall (or am I?). Rankings are the consensus redraft rankings on Fantasy pros. It took me several Braden feedings to complete this mock draft so the rankings may or may not have changed on Fantasypros.

Pick 1 (James): Isiah Pacheco
Keepers: Henry (RB 7), Kelce (TE 2)

I himmed and hawed over who James’ keeper was between Henry and Pacheco. He would never let Kelce go due to the positional advantage (and emotional investment). However, he will just pick up whichever one he doesn’t formally make a keeper.

Pick 2 (Adib) – Marvin Harrison Jr.
Keepers: Kamara (RB 21), Mixon (RB 13) Also in consderation: Aiyuk (WR 12)

Harrison Jr. is a generational talent. Even if Adib keeps Aiyuk over Kamara Harrison Jr. is in a tier all by himself. He would have went number 1 overall but James is perfectly capable of finding a WR with a similar skillset in the 7th round.

Pick 3 (Bobby) – Chris Olave (WR 11)
Keepers: Lamb, (WR 1), St. Brown (WR 5)

Who needs RBs? Bobby selects the best player on the board which is Chris Olave. Can’t believe the 18th best player wasn’t kept!!!

Pick 4 (AJ) – Kenneth Walker (RB 16)
Keepers: Nacua (WR 8), Robinson (RB 3)

AJ can go any direction with this pick. There’s a large group of running backs in a similar tier that will probably go one after the other after this pick. There’s also a good chance that AJ trades down 3 picks to move up 5 picks in the 2nd round, move up 3 picks in the 4th and down 7 picks in the 7th. Poor draft board.

Pick 5 (Nick) – Patrick Mahomes (QB 3)
Keepers: Williams (RB 8), Samuel (WR 9)

Nick hasn’t informed me that I’ll be making the picks for him yet. However, if I am I’m sure the only thing I’ll be told is to take Mahomes in the first. If he’s not available he’ll grab a Justin Jefferson.

Pick 6 (Pearson) – Josh Allen (QB 1)
Keepers: Cook (RB 15), Wilson (WR 7)

Can Pearson go 2 years in a row without taking Josh Allen? No. The answer is no. I have no doubt that with the amount of time Harvey and Pearson spend together they already have atleast 20 bets going on between their beloved Bills and Eagles (puke emoji). One of those being which one of them can have more Eagles / Bills players on their fantasy team. Harvey was up 2-1 before this selection.

Pick 7 (Devin) – Jaylen Waddle (WR 17)
Keepers: Gibbs (RB 5), Hall (RB 2)

This was the first tough selection. Devin could just as easily go with 3 RBs. DK metcalfe was also available. However, Waddle is still young and in a potent offense. I can see Devin passing up on some of the players ahead of Waddle for his homerun ability.

Pick 8 (Chris) – Nico Collins (WR 15)
Keepers: Taylor (RB 4), Achane (RB 11)

I’m doing something wrong here. Only 2 RBs have been taken up to this point and this is BAFFL. There just seems to be some really great WRs this year and some people really excited about QBs. Nico Collins is going to have a monster year.

Pick 9 (Brent) – David Montgomery (RB 18)
Keepers: Jefferson (WR 4), Etienne Jr. (RB 9)

There’s no way Montgomery falls to 9 in the actual draft. If he does, you made out like a bandit in BAFFL Brent.

Pick 10 (Noel) – James Conner (RB 19)
Keepers: Chase (WR 3), LaPorta (TE 1)

Noel has no choice but to draft a RB here. James Conner continues to play well despite age creaping up on him. He’s 29 years old but still running hard for an Arizona team that should be better with Kyler Murray back for the whole year.

Pick 11 (Corey) – Nick Cubb (RB 38)
Keepers: Brown (WR 6), Hill (WR 2)

RB 38!!??? WTF FantasyPros you guys are idiots. Chubb may miss a couple of games but you just wait… Chubb will be a top 10 RB by the end of the year. Good on ya Corey for believing in him as we all do.

Pick 12 (Devan) – Drake London (WR 12)
Keepers: McCaffrey (RB 1), White (RB 16)

Drake London started to get his stride by the end of last year. With a new offensive coordinator and system this Atlanta team could be dangerous.

Pick 13 (Chris) – Mark Andrews (TE 3)
Previous selection: Nico Collins (WR 15)
Keepers: Keepers: Taylor (RB 4), Achane (RB 11)

With 2 1st round selections Chris has the luxury of going TE or QB with this pick. With the top 3 QBs off the board, Chris gets Andrews as his positional advantage.

Pick 14 (Colin) – Rhamondre Stevenson (RB 21)
Keepers: Adams (WR10), Jacobs (RB 12)

Colin waits patiently to get the best RB on the board. A solid selection for the end of the 1st round.

Pick 17 (Mike) – Devonta Smith (WR 22)
Keepers: Barkley (RB 6), Hurts (QB 2)

3-2 Pearson!
