Week 6 Power Rankings

After a 1 week hiatus the BAFFL power rankings are back, and the league haves and have nots are starting to really take shape. With that said, 2 wins separate the 11th place team from first, and there’s a lot of games left to be played before we find out who is taking home the title, and who is bringing home a goldfish. With the exception of the hogs/birdz snoozefest, none of the other matchups were particularly close this week. Will the hogz first W be enough to move them up in the rankings? Read on to find out.

#1 – AA Magikarps (-)

The Karps put up another monster week with 150 points, and this time there were really no passengers on the team with just about everyone contributing. Austin Ekeler looks like he’s back to form, as does McCaffrey, and the karps are going to be a tough team to beat barring any massive injuries. Hell, with Rhamondre sitting on the bench they could easily swallow one season ending injury, maybe even two.

#2 – Pepsiland Pontooners (+4)

The Pontooners are on a roll and have fired off 3 wins in a row behind monster performances from Dameon Pierce, Travis Kelce and King Henry. Having Kelce gives the league treasurer a massive advantage at that position every week, and that advantage could be enough to knock off the karps on any given Sunday if one or two of their players falter. The pontooners are in tough next week with the bye week blues, but afterwards should be ready to roll to make a title run.

#3 – McFavres (-1)

The vaunted McFavres D had an off week, allowing 95 points to the red-hot Voldemorts. This, combined with an off week for Williams in a game where the lions had nothing going led to the McFavres dropping their first game of the season in week 5. The McFavres should bounce back in week 6 with a soft matchup against the basement dwelling Mystics.

#4 – Voldemorts (+9)

The Voldemorts have ripped off two wins in a row and appear to be BACK, with Alvin Kamara finally starting to put up numbers and Jeff Wilson Jr as a high-end RB2 in a runningback starved league. An injury to Damien Harris means GM Adib won’t have to bother dressing the struggling RB, and can finally take the weekly Duvernay 11 points into his lineup instead of perpetually sitting on his bench. Look for this team to make some serious noise come playoff time.

#5 – DB Spa Lords (+6)

The Spa Lords put up a monster 151 pt week, and that was with impact player Taysom Hill putting up 36 on his bench to brother friermuth’s 2 pts. This team has one of the best 1-2 runningback combos in the league, Mahomes at QB, and some serviceable receivers who are capable of popping off at any time. Don’t let the record fool you, this team is legit and they will probably end up acquiring a king’s ransom of picks for hot commodity “tight end” Taysom Hill.

#6 – Creek Crossing Sharks (+2)

The Sharks are 4-1 thanks to a soft schedule and a defense allowing an average of 68 points per week, hands down the lowest mark in BAFFL. This team could be a playoff contender if they find a solution at QB, where they’ve been struggling week in and week out to break the 10 pt barrier. So far, breakout performances by Breece Hall and a formidable WR corps has been enough to keep them afloat, but don’t be surprised to see this team back in the L column this week with a matchup against the BIG GUYs, who have Allen and Diggs playing in what will no doubt be a points book cake in BUF@KC.

#7 – EB Angry Birdz (-4)

The EB Angry Birdz have the dubious distinction of giving the Hogz their first (and perhaps only) win on the season, failing to crack the 61 pt mark in what should have been a free win to get to 4-1. After a strong start, Miles Sanders has come crashing down to earth because Jalen Hurts simply vultures ALL of the touchdowns. If Jonathon Taylor stays hurt or continues playing the way he was prior to the injury, this team could continue falling into the basement of the BAFFL power rankings.

#8 – Aconitum Wolves (-4)

The Wolves fall to 3-2 after an uninspired effort from everyone on the team not named Nick Chubb. The Wolves GM put it best when he said Najee Harris is Trent Richardson, and we couldn’t agree more. In stark contrast, Nick Chubb continues to be the most consistent RB1 in fantasy, and does so with only 15-20 touches a game. This team will go as Lamar Jackson goes, on weeks where he puts up 30+ points they will beat a lot of opponents, but when he puts up average or below average weeks, it’s going to be tough sledding with the rest of this roster.

#9 – Minoterie BIG GUYs (+1)

Stop me if you’ve heard this before: the BIG GUYs got a BIG win on the back of a monster performance by Allen and Diggs. The formula for success for this team is pretty straightforward: when the bills go off, so does his team. Considering the team is one of the best in the NFL, this should be enough to get the BIG GUYs into the playoffs despite a slow start thanks to a #RIGGED schedule. The BIG GUYs got a BIG boost this week as well, with Ken Walker elevated to the clear-cut number 1 on a surprisingly good Seattle offense. Look for this team to move up the rankings again next week after they dismantle the Sharks in a cakewalk matchup.

#10 – Delamere Rrrrrrraiders (-3)

The raiders ran into a juggernaut this week, losing to the powerhouse Spa Lords despite putting up a respectable 98 pts. The team is in tough this week with their beloved raiders on a bye, but the bye should be enough to get Darren Waller healthy and have this team back on track afterwards. It’s going to be tough sledding though, with the team looking at a 2-4 record heading into the meat of the BAFFL season, needing to make up serious ground to get into the dance.

#11 – Essex Offenders (+1)

Everyone’s darling preseason pick has had a tough go of it this season, and the team can’t catch a break, running into another monster performance this week en route to a 149-95 thrashing from the karps. It doesn’t get any easier for the Offenders, with the mighty Spa Lords on tap this week. In this pivotal matchup, the Offenders RB room looks like more what we’ve been accustomed to seeing over the years from this franchise: absolute garbage. Devin Singletary and Deejay Dallas are not it, look for this team to go 1-5.

#12 – Crevasse Cheeks (-7)

The cheeks are who we thought they were, the last ranked team heading into the season had us all fooled after getting off to a hot start, but the team is quickly plummeting back where they belong to the basement of the BAFFL standings. Mark Andrews is great to have, but having the advantage at TE means nothing when the rest of your team looks like this. The WR group is abysmal, and GM Conde would be wise to take a page out of the Sharks book and move on from Russel Wilson. The fact that the sharks are struggling to get 10 points out of their QB and decided to cut Wilson tells you all you need to know. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, strike three.

#13 – Moustache Mystics (-4)

The Burrows/Chase stack is the dollar general version of Allen/Diggs, and this team doesn’t have a whole lot else going for it at the moment. After a hot start, James Robinson is playing clear 1B in the Jacksonville RB room, which is not a great situation to be in on a struggling offense.

#14 – Battle Hogz (-)

The Battle Hogz eked out a win with 60.88 points, 23% of which came from their defense. Here’s another fun stat for you, their 60 points wasn’t enough to bring their season total up to the next closest point total… from last week. The Mystics had 332.36 points going into the week, and have widened the gap over the Hogz by close to 100 points. The Hogz are putting up an average of 65 points a week, a number that might go down as the season progresses with James Conner going down to injury. Melvin Gordon is this team’s best player, and GM Corey was busy working the phones trying to offload him this week, but he quickly discovered even his best player has no value around the rest of the league.
